Nooky Gossip 42! Painting Tips for Warm Weather! Bombay Duck! General Finishes! Bright and Colourful In the Spotlight Transformation!
Shereena's Essential Warm Weather Painting Tips!
.
The warmer weather is on its way! And I am seriously looking forward to sunnier times! But warmer weather can make painting more difficult with paint drying too quickly and leaving pesky brush strokes showing on your finished product. These are my top tips for working in warmer weather!
.
Tip 1. General Finishes Extender is the perfect product to use with any water based stains, sealers, finishes, paints, and glazes. Use it in a 10-15% mix with your desired water based product and it will extend the drying time - helpful in hot, dry conditions or just to improve flow and levelling. This is my absolute fave Extender product to use.
.
Tip 2. Use a good quality brush and make sure it is the right brush for the paint you are using. Most people like to use a soft, synthetic fibre brush. We stock a huge array of brushes - find the right one for you on our website! Our absolute faves are Cling On brushes - they keep really well, are easy to clean and give a fab finish!
.
Tip 3. Keep your brush damp and don't let it dry out between coats! Keep them in a brush keeper or wrap them in cling film or a sandwich bag.
.
Tip 4: Use a fine mister to dampen down the air in the area you are working in and to dampen down the furniture. All our paint ranges are suitable to use with a mister.
.
Tip 5. When painting a large surface area, such as a wardrobe or large table top, we highly recommend using a microfibre roller. This will give you a flawless finish, is very easy to use, applies the product evenly and you can cover a large area quickly without too many overlaps. We stock Staalmeester Rollers which are are an absolute dream to work with!
.
If you follow these tips you should have trouble free painting over the warmer months! If it gets very hot though it may be best to wait for a cooler day!

Laura Burton is in the Spotlight this week with this colourful and cheery transformation! Laura resisted temptation to go for a dark colour and kept it light and bright by painting the top and frame in Fusion Mineral Paint's Sacred Sage and the drawers in Fusion Mineral Paint's Damask. She then replaced the handles with some she recycled from another piece sitting in her garage which she brightened up with some hot pink spray paint. What a great way to bring this piece of furniture back to life!
