TheUK's First Furniture Painting Business Conferencetook place on 3rd - 5th September 2021 and it was A-MA-ZING! I had the best time hanging out with like-minded people, learning new things and motivating each other to shoot for the stars when it comes to our businesses!
The conference included workshops, demonstrations and business support. I attended to represent Shabby Nook, make ourbig announcement(see below!) and to showcase General Finishes products (and of course, to have a good time with my favourite kind of people!) Find out more about what we did, including me discovering my inner Nigella, over on ourblog!
ANNOUNCEMENT!

As a huge fan of Posh Chalk products – which are high quality and super versatile – I am so excited for this new area of work! We are on the look out for new stockists – if you are interested, please check out our Posh Chalk websitehereand fill out the stockist enquiry form!
General Finishes Stain Blocker is an evolutionary water-based stain-blocking primer for interior projects and it is a seriously impressive product! Stain Blocker can be used to protect pigmented finishes from stain, dye and wood tannin bleed-through. I tried it over mahogany and there was NO BLEED-THROUGH what-so-ever! We highly recommend! General Finishes Milk Paint was such a huge hit at the conference that we are bringing it back to Shabby Nook! And we LOVE that it is now more environmentally friendly than ever, made with more than 50% RENEWABLE RESOURCES formulated from sustainable materials that decrease the carbon footprint. Drop us anemailto let us know which colours you can’t wait to see back in stock!
Enduro-Var by General Finishes is still available for a fantastic price at Shabby Nook – but be quick as stocks are limited! And once it’s gone, it’s gone! We are making way for Enduro-Var II.
Enduro-Var is a gorgeous ambering water-based topcoat – brilliant for a durable wood finish. Use over water-based stains, dye stains and raw wood.
I love these cute trinket boxes by Laura Downes fromCherubs Chalks Interiors! Laura painted the boxes inDixie Belle Chalk Paint, applied Belles and Whistles transfers in her chosen design and finished them with Dixie Belle’sClear Satin Topcoat. Laura’s tip for using transfers on curved pieces is to apply them to the main/flat surfaces first and make sure the design is fully burnished onto that surface before bending it and applying it to the curved surfaces.
