In the Spotlight this week is Joanna Pierpoint Aikins with these fab drawers with a faux aged copper effect created with copper patina powders! Just look at the transformation in the before and after pics! Joanna prepped the drawers with Fusion Ultra Grip as they were a bit shiny and painted the whole unit in Autentico Nocturnal. She mixed saltwash with Autentico Ancient Copper and stippled this onto the drawers with the drawers lying on their back to aid application. Whilst they were still wet Joanna sprinkled the drawers with Autentico Aged Copper Powders in Mid Green, Dark Blue and Light Blue and then stood the drawers back up to allow the excess to fall off. She lightly sprayed some areas with water to encourage a drip effect.
Once dry she used some more copper paint and splattered on some of the Nocturnal Paint using a toothbrush adding flecks of colour. Finally, she sanded any sharp edges and add a spray lacquer to protect it.
Thanks Joanna for sharing your photos and technique with us! All that hard work certainly paid off – they look gorgeous! For more paint inspo join our private Facebook Group today and see what our members are up to!
