General Finishes High Performance Top Coat / varnish in size 473ml is one of the hardest, most durable polyurethane top coats available to consumers and trade. Because it contains consumer-friendly characteristics of Polyacrylic Blend - flows and levels easily and has great adhesion and in addition it contains a UV stabiliser to protect the top coat and underlying stains from breaking down or fading from exposure to sunlight.

Also the finish is extremely durable enough to be used on floors. This acrylic and polyurethane topcoat will produce a beautiful furniture quality finish on any project.

General Finishes High Performance Top Coat Top Tips*

The higher the sheen the harder it is, the lower the sheen the less hardy it is until NOW. General finishes low sheens dead matt and flat have the same durability as satin due to its ground breaking new patented technology. Semi Gloss and Gloss are still the highest level. but, that being said, General finishes top coats are still the best around for durability, shinier finishes are more resistant to scrubbing and water.

New Dead Matt! - new technology advances and a patented formula - dead matt - no shine finish now as durable as Satin - incredible.
Flat - does have a low lustre finish so is not a dead flat matt but a great low sheen finish.
Satin - Super hardy ideal for kitchens - but can go to a glossy look if applying 3 coats or more.
If you want the hardyness of a satin/ gloss but a low lustre finish, apply satin or gloss first then use Flat / dead flat over the top. This also enables great clarity over dark finishes
Higher sheen levels on mid to dark colours may slightly enhance the colour of paint because they appear more intense/darker and is for all satin - gloss topcoats not just general finishes. - trick of the eye as they say

Application guide:

Apply with a flat brush, roller or spray gun. Recommended 2 coats no more than 3. You can also use GEN applicator Foam brushes. Sand in between coats with general finishes sanding pads if the grain of wood swells or for imperfections during application.

Can be used over the top of many other brands of waterbased stains and paints. Can also be used over oil based finishes once the oil has fully cured but there are extremely important steps you must adhere too for this to be successful. see linked video in product photos.
